Mission Purpose

The Beloved Community Center of Greensboro, North Carolina (BCC) is a community-based, grassroots empowerment oriented organization. Rooted in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of proactive struggles for racial and economic justice, democracy and beloved community, the BCC is committed to grassroots empowerment, especially among minorities, within the context and spirit of forging a beloved community for all residents. This method is consistent with our mission statement that asserts in part “that we strive for social and economic relationships that uphold the dignity, worth, and potential of everyone.”

Main Activities

There are six interrelated and overlapping working groups through which the BCC conducts its community-building work: Economic Justice, Quality Public Education, Truth and Community Reconciliation, Homeless Hospitality, Peace and Anti-War, Grassroots Hall of Fame. We have the Annual Beloved Community Center Friendship and Benefit Gathering that also features our Grassroots Hall of Fame Induction.

Meeting Time & Place

Varies, based on particular initiative. We post events on PJN!
